Preschool

The preschool program meets 5 days a week and is the first school experience for most of our students. Our program focuses on hands-on, multi-sensory learning experiences that promote growth in the areas of gross and fine motor skills, language development, self-help skills, preliminary academic skills, and social interaction. Children are read to daily and enjoy cooperative play and hands on projects and activities. In addition, preschoolers also participate in physical education, art, music, and computer classes.

Early Elementary

The early elementary curriculum centers around language rich, hands-on, inquiry based learning activities that provide students with opportunities to develop and improve skills in reading, spelling, writing, math, science, and social studies. All students participate in daily language arts and math instruction in small ability based groups, and gather together to study science and social studies as a class through exploration and experimentation. Integration of subject matter, an integral component of our program, is used to make learning more meaningful to students. Students also enjoy physical education, art, music, and computer instruction.

Elementary

The elementary curriculum focuses on improving and refining skills in the areas of language arts, math, science, and social studies. Students continue to study reading and math in small ability based groups and begin to read and interpret short novels. In social studies students complete an intensive study of New Jersey and learn about the history of the United States. The science curriculum is based on hands on experimentation and covers life, earth, and physical science. Students also participate in art, physical education, music, and computer classes.

Middle and Secondary

The middle school and secondary school curricula focus on developing independent and responsible students who take an active role in their learning. It marks a transitional point for our students. Responsibility demands are increased as students change classes throughout the day. The language arts curriculum concentrates on refining reading comprehension and critical thinking skills and on exposing students to literature. Students participate in the reading of novels, short stories, plays, and poems that relate to their experiences. The math curriculum includes consumer math which helps students develop skills that they will need in the real world, pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry. Social studies focuses on the principles of democracy, government, law, and geography.

The middle and secondary school curriculum also includes a variety of transitional classes where students learn skills that prepare them for adult life. Transitional classes offered include: office skills, culinary arts, sewing, landscaping, plumbing, and pet care. Students also continue to receive art, music, physical education, world language, and computer instruction.
